I Got This Real Estate Investing Stuff…I don’t Need Your Help!

Yesterday, I told you about the #1 Biggest  Mistake I made in Real Estate Investing and how I became a victim within a very short period of time. If you haven’t read it yet, then you can check it out today –> The Victim- Mistake #1

Today, I’d like to let you in on the 2nd Biggest Mistake I made in Real Estate Investing and I’m not proud of this one, but it is kind of funny now that I look at it.

As you may or may not know, it took me 2 years to complete my first real estate deal. Buying course after course, hopping from discussion forum to discussion forum, and even attending meeting after meeting, didn’t do me any justice. This cost me a lot of time and money. Again, if you want to know why this all didn’t help, then check out my 1st Biggest Mistake, “The Victim”

Anyway, do you want to know how I really screwed up?

    The # 2 Biggest Mistake

During this 2 year neutral zone, would you believe me if I told you I had a mentor? 2 years of not doing a single real estate deal and I had a mentor the entire time! The problem was not having a mentor, the problem was not communicating with my mentor. Within that 2 year timeframe, I can probably count on my hand how many times I communicated with my mentor. That’s not good. You see, I felt that I could handle it. I felt like, “Hey I’m my own boss now, right?” “I don’t need your help, I got this!” This was the wrong mentality and as you can see it cost me dearly. My mentor was the type of person who invested in real estate everyday and knew the ropes. He gave me 90 days of email support when I bought his course, but I felt like I needed to prove myself and wanted to surprise him with a Hot Deal!

    Surprisingly to me…NO DEALS!

The type of mentor you want is the kind of mentor that is in the trenches doing deals and who has an open line of communication. Not the type that ignores all your phone calls and emails when you really need help. I had the type that did deals and was very accessibleand I didn’t even take him up on it. This was a bonehead move and along with not taking action it cost me 2 years of real estate wealth!

In a few days, I’ll tell you what I did to overcome this mistake as well as the first mistake. In the mean time, stay tuned for tomorrow’s final mistake, #3. It’s titled, “The Killers”
